And I am really glad that I was not alone. Last year,  likeminded surgeons such as myself and Dr Roger Khouri, Dr Sydney Coleman and many other elite doctors came together to consolidate this particular aspect of plastic surgery as a foundation for an adjuvant yet independent discipline and I had the privilege to be chosen as ISPRES ( International Society of Plastic Regenerative Surgery )’s first president during the 16th IPRAS congress. This bought me even greater opportunities to be exposed in the amazing world of fat grafting and exchange ideas with global researchers from all over the world.

The more I get to know fat, the more I realize that it is extremely important for plastic surgeons to have in-depth understanding of both technical expertise and knowledge for fat grafting in order to obtain the desired results. Therefore, by the end of 2013, I decided to fund the Italian Academy of Lipotech that is dedicated specifically to the field of fat grafting, and I would like to share my knowledge while attracting more like-minded doctors to innovate older procedures and use fat as a steadfast and consistent ally with the conventional methods so as to better the results and redefine the expected outcomes thus, raising our standards in both aesthetic as well as reconstructive surgery.

The aim of this academy is to take responsibility to help standardize protocols universally in fat grafting. This would in effect help plastic surgeons the world over to duplicate their treatment techniques, as close to the recommended ones as possible, with consistent results. In accordance with this, our aim is to extend help and guidance to individual surgeons to follow these guidelines through completing the fellowship during the 2 day intensive training with me.

Without further ado, I welcome you to the fellowship and look forward to seeing you in Verona.

Warm Regards,

Dr Gino Rigotti

Message from the Director

Dear Colleagues,

As a physician, with over 30 years of experience in the medical field, I can attest to the fact that passion is the single most important aspect of healthcare. In the last ten years I myself have madly devoted my passion to the fat grafting field and I have been truly amazed by the versatility of fat and its innumerable applications both in the aesthetic as well as reconstructive surgery fields.

Fat Grafting, it is not a new topic, but it certainly has come a long way since German physician Franz Neuber first attempted a procedure in 1893 to graft fat tissue from the upper arm to a patient’s cheek. Nowadays, more and more doctors have benefited by the dependable function the fat can do to their patients; I myself was one of them. Five years ago, during my continuous practirses of fat grafting surgeries, I invented the Rigottomies 2D and 3D Techniques mostly used for Breast Augmentation/ Reshaping and Reconstruction in order to achieve a better result & higher fat survivability for breast reshaping. It certainly helped me to understand fat grafting at a new level.
